Keeping Care Connected for Breast Cancer Research Centre – WA

Breast Cancer Research Centre – WA (BCRC-WA) operates in an environment where reliable communication, secure technology and responsive support are essential to everyday care.

Based within the Hollywood Hospital precinct in Nedlands, BCRC-WA brings together specialist clinical care, research and patient support in one integrated environment. Its teams work across busy clinics while coordinating with specialists, hospitals, radiology, pathology and other healthcare providers.

CorpCloud established BCRC-WA’s IT environment when the organisation moved into its new premises and continues to support the technology behind its day-to-day operations.

For BCRC-WA, the value of the relationship comes down to accessibility, responsiveness and having technology support available when it is needed.

“CorpCloud understands the unique needs of medical organisations and has been excellent at providing timely, useful and practical support whenever we have required it. It is also extremely beneficial to have the one supplier of both IT and the phone network.” – Fiona Cocks, COO / CFO, Breast Cancer Research Centre – WA

About Breast Cancer Research Centre

Breast Cancer Research Centre – WA is a comprehensive breast cancer organisation providing clinical care, research and support to people affected by breast cancer.

Through the Perth Breast Cancer Institute, BCRC-WA brings together medical oncologists, breast surgeons, breast physicians, clinical trials, breast care nurses, clinical psychologists and genetic counselling services within the Hollywood Hospital precinct. Its model is designed to give patients access to a broad range of breast cancer services within one location.

BCRC-WA’s facilities extend across four suites within the Hollywood Consulting Centre and operate closely alongside Hollywood Private Hospital and other healthcare providers.

That connected model of care depends on technology working reliably behind the scenes. Doctors and specialists move through back-to-back appointments, followed by significant coordination with other parts of BCRC-WA as well as external providers including radiology, pathology and the hospital itself.

The Challenge

BCRC-WA did not come to CorpCloud because an existing IT environment had failed.

Instead, CorpCloud was responsible for establishing the organisation’s technology environment in its new premises and making sure it was operational from day one.

The challenge was therefore to create and maintain a dependable technology foundation for a busy, multidisciplinary healthcare organisation where communication, access to systems and information security all matter.

  • Day-One Technology Readiness: BCRC-WA needed its IT environment established and functioning from the moment its new premises became operational.
  • Busy Clinical Workflows: Clinicians often work through back-to-back appointments, followed by substantial administrative and clinical coordination. Technology needs to support those workflows without becoming another obstacle.
  • Reliable Communications: Phones, internet access and day-to-day systems need to remain available so staff can communicate with patients, colleagues and external healthcare providers.
  • Security and Confidentiality: BCRC-WA places particular importance on operating within a secure IT environment because of the confidential patient information its teams handle.

Why CorpCloud

For BCRC-WA, local and accessible support has become one of the most important aspects of the relationship.

CorpCloud attends the organisation onsite each week, where a team member “does the rounds” and works directly with staff to resolve IT issues. Between scheduled visits, support remains available by phone and email, with technicians able to attend onsite when urgent assistance is required.

BCRC-WA also has a dedicated Account Manager who can help escalate time-critical issues and coordinate the appropriate response.

Fiona describes CorpCloud’s availability and visibility as particularly valuable to BCRC-WA’s day-to-day operations.

Rather than managing separate relationships for different areas of technology, BCRC-WA benefits from having one partner supporting several critical parts of its IT environment.

What CorpCloud Delivered

CorpCloud provides BCRC-WA with a managed technology environment covering day-to-day IT support, security, Microsoft services, communications, backup and core domain infrastructure.

Managed Services

CorpCloud provides ongoing managed IT support for BCRC-WA, helping staff resolve day-to-day technology issues and maintain the systems behind its clinical and administrative operations.

Regular onsite visits complement remote support, providing BCRC-WA with both direct staff engagement and access to technical assistance when issues arise.

Managed Firewall

CorpCloud manages BCRC-WA’s firewall environment as part of the organisation’s broader approach to secure IT operations.

For a healthcare organisation where protecting confidential patient information is paramount, managed security forms an important part of the technology foundation supporting everyday work.

Microsoft Licence Management

CorpCloud manages BCRC-WA’s Microsoft licensing, helping centralise the administration of the Microsoft services and applications used across the organisation.

This gives BCRC-WA one technology partner for both ongoing support and the management of key Microsoft services.

IP Telephony – Córas

BCRC-WA’s phone environment is supported through CorpCloud’s Córas IP Telephony service.

Phones play a critical operational role at BCRC-WA, supporting communication between patients, staff, specialists and other healthcare providers. Fiona specifically identified uninterrupted phone availability as essential to the organisation’s daily operations.

Microsoft 365 Backups

CorpCloud provides Microsoft 365 backup services for BCRC-WA, adding another layer of protection around important organisational information held within its Microsoft environment.

The service forms part of a broader approach to resilience alongside managed services, security and Microsoft licence management.

Domain & DNS Hosting and Management

CorpCloud also manages BCRC-WA’s domain and DNS hosting environment.

By bringing these core digital services into the same managed relationship, BCRC-WA has a single technology partner responsible for another important part of the infrastructure supporting its online and communications environment.

What Improved

The value of the partnership is not based on a single technology project or headline performance statistic.

For BCRC-WA, the improvement comes from having a technology environment that is supported consistently and a team that remains accessible when help is required.

One Technology Partner

BCRC-WA describes CorpCloud as a “one-stop-shop” for its technology and communications requirements, simplifying the way support is managed internally.

More Accessible Support

Weekly onsite visits give staff regular face-to-face access to technical support while phone and email assistance remain available between visits.

Faster Escalation

Time-critical issues can be escalated directly through BCRC-WA’s dedicated Account Manager, helping bring the appropriate resources into an issue quickly.

Practical Problem-Solving

One example is BCRC-WA’s Boardroom AV environment.

The organisation relies on a complex AV system for weekly meetings involving multiple dial-in participants. When intermittent faults occurred, CorpCloud identified team members with the appropriate AV expertise, arranged onsite assistance and also engaged the original hardware provider to help investigate and resolve the problem.

The example demonstrates an important part of the relationship: when an issue extends beyond routine IT support, CorpCloud works to find the expertise required rather than simply passing the problem back to the client.

Client Perspective

For BCRC-WA, successful technology support is largely invisible.

The organisation’s clinicians and staff need to concentrate on appointments, treatment, patient communication and the significant coordination that takes place around each person’s care.

BCRC-WA’s own clinical model brings together specialists including medical oncologists, surgeons, breast physicians, nurses, psychologists and genetic counsellors, while also connecting patients with radiology and other hospital services.

Technology therefore has to support that environment rather than complicate it.

CorpCloud’s combination of regular onsite presence, responsive remote support, dedicated account management and managed technology services gives BCRC-WA access to one local team across multiple areas of its IT environment.

As Fiona explains: “CorpCloud understands the unique needs of medical organisations and has been excellent at providing timely, useful and practical support whenever we have required it.”

Closing

Healthcare organisations depend on more than clinical expertise alone.

Behind every appointment are phones, Microsoft services, security systems, backups, domains, communications and the people responsible for keeping those systems working.

For Breast Cancer Research Centre – WA, CorpCloud provides a managed technology relationship designed around reliability, accessibility and practical support.

With managed services, managed firewall, Microsoft licence management, Córas IP Telephony, Microsoft 365 backups and domain and DNS management brought together under one relationship, BCRC-WA can spend less time coordinating technology suppliers and more time concentrating on the work that matters most: supporting patients and delivering breast cancer care.

If your healthcare organisation is looking for a local technology partner across managed IT, security, Microsoft services, communications and backup, CorpCloud is ready to help.
